La Chocolatada: Celebrating Christmas with our cacao community

Every December, around the second week, El Gato Chocolate hosts a beloved tradition: La Chocolatada, a joyful Peruvian Christmas celebration dedicated to the children of Comunidad Los Ángeles in Lamas, San Martín — the heart of our cacao-growing family.

La Chocolatada is our way of honoring the cacao families who give soul and purpose to every bar of El Gato Chocolate.

This isn’t just a party. It’s a moment of gratitude, connection, and celebration. Our entire team from Tarapoto travels to the small town to bring music, games, and gifts to the children of our native cacao farmers. Each child receives a thoughtfully prepared tote bag or backpack filled with school supplies, toys, and clothing — essentials that support their growth and joy.

The day is filled with:

Hot cocoa and panetón, a classic Peruvian holiday combo Dalinas (Kids Show performers) who bring laughter and magic Games, dancing, and heartfelt moments shared between our team and the families

The Soul of El Gato

For us, La Chocolatada is more than a seasonal event — it’s a way to honor the people who make our chocolate possible. It’s a promise that we will always pay fairly, support their well-being, and respect the incredible work they do to cultivate the finest organic cacao.
Christmas is a time to share, and we are proud to share it with those who contribute so deeply to our mission. Their dedication is the reason we can offer the best chocolate experiences to our clients around the world. Through La Chocolatada, we celebrate not just the season — but the soul of our brand.
